Nalu Surf Club Opens in Abu Dhabi on Hudayriyat Island: A New Surfside Spot to Watch

Nalu Surf Club

If you’re a fan of coastal vibes and great food, mark your calendars. This Friday, 13 September, Nalu Surf Club is opening its doors at Surf Abu Dhabi on Hudayriyat Island, a stone’s throw from the city but with all the laid-back charm of a beach retreat. What makes this spot even cooler? It’s located at Surf Abu Dhabi, home to the world’s most advanced man-made wave—so you know it’s going to attract a buzzing surf crowd.

California Cool Meets Abu Dhabi

Nalu Surf Club nails that effortlessly cool, West Coast vibe. The interiors are all about soft, neutral tones and warm sunset colours, making you feel like you’ve just stepped off a Californian beach. The design is relaxed but polished, with natural materials and carved wood giving the space a cozy feel. There are flowing lines, reflective surfaces, and just enough mood lighting to keep things interesting, especially as day turns into night.

The terrace at the Wave Lounge is perfect for lounging with a view of the surf action, whether you’re stretched out on a sunbed or chilling on a sofa. As the day winds down, the Oak Bar Lounge shifts gears into a livelier spot, complete with DJ beats and an ocean-inspired drinks menu. It’s the kind of place where the vibe matches the setting—chill, social, and just the right side of lively.

A Menu That Surfs the Globe

Heading up the kitchen is Executive Chef Denis Placereani, who’s brought together a mix of flavours from around the world. The breakfast options alone are worth checking out, whether it’s Huevos Rancheros with a Middle Eastern twist or the Thai Crab Omelette that packs a punch. For lunch or dinner, expect an eclectic range of dishes, from crispy Goong Sarong shrimp to a Lobster Catalan salad, or a juicy Wagyu Steak Sandwich for those after something heartier.

And don’t skip dessert—the peanut butter parfait (The Great Wall) and zesty Lime Tart are both standout choices that give a playful, modern spin to the sweet menu.

Not Just for Surfers

While Nalu is naturally a hotspot for surf lovers (thanks to its location at Surf Abu Dhabi), the space has been designed to be welcoming to everyone, from families to groups of friends just looking for a laid-back spot with good food and drinks. Claudio Zarlenga, General Manager, sums it up well: “We wanted to create a space where everyone feels at home, whether you’re hitting the waves or just here for the food and atmosphere.”

Whether you’re in it for the waves or the cocktails, Nalu Surf Club is set to be one of Abu Dhabi’s new go-to spots. With a killer view of the surf, a global menu, and a relaxed but stylish setting, it’s got all the makings of a place you’ll want to keep coming back to.
