Surf’s Up: World Surf League Brings the Championship Tour to Abu Dhabi This February
Hold onto your boards! From 14–16 February 2025, the world’s best surfers will descend on Abu Dhabi for the World Surf League (WSL) Surf Abu Dhabi Pro. This landmark event, held at the cutting-edge Surf Abu Dhabi facility on Hudayriyat Island, marks a historic moment as elite professional surfing makes its debut in the Middle East.
As the second stop on the WSL Championship Tour, the Surf Abu Dhabi Pro will feature an electrifying lineup of top athletes, including:
Caity Simmers (USA) – Reigning 2024 WSL Champion and world No. 1.
Ramzi Boukhiam (Morocco) – The top-ranked Arab surfer bringing regional pride to the global stage.
Jack Robinson (Australia) – Paris 2024 Olympic silver medallist and all-around powerhouse.
Caroline Marks (USA) – The reigning World Champion and Paris 2024 Olympic gold medallist.
Tatiana Weston-Webb (Brazil) – Known for her fearless style, and a Paris 2024 Olympic silver medallist.
This stellar roster promises to deliver three action-packed days as the surfers tackle the world’s longest and most technically challenging artificial waves.
Since opening in October 2024, Surf Abu Dhabi, developed by Modon in collaboration with the Kelly Slater Wave Company, has set a new benchmark in surfing. With its record-breaking wave technology and premium facilities, the venue caters to everyone—from beginners to elite professionals. This is more than a wave pool; it’s a destination designed to inspire.
